Lol…I can understand doing this for images, audio, and videos because they can be forged to sound or look like someone else. Not sure what watermarking text would achieve..Everyone will use it anyways..
I'm not concerned about being labeled as AI-assisted when I write some content but it makes me think that the next generation of people, or people who just start learning English when they are raised and taught on AI-generated content, will unconsciously start to apply those patterns even when not being assisted by AI. My prediction is that over time false accusations for AI-labeled content will be more and more wrong
Actually, with time, the difference between AI generated and human written content will be indistinguishable because AI will learn more from humans and vice versa. There are 2 ways to look at this. It may be bad for people trying to learn how to write, but is a boon for people who are not necessarily trying to be better writers, but just want to put their thoughts out

I don't think this one factor concerns me, but rather, what happens when a frontier company can own the watermarking mechanism + the magical watermark detection tool + destroys skinned books + lobbies for regulatory capture at the expense of Open Source?
Yeah ... that's what bugs me. Now pardon me while I put the finishing touches on my tin-foil capped fictional futuristic fable as this all comes to a confluence of crapola.

Long story short, it will be easier to get higher results if your performance is lower than current average.
But it will be harder to make exceptional results.
The total average content quality will increase most likely.
But people who want to write the best possible pieces will be very irritated.
I like this.
Whenever I ask AI to review my work for ideas I may have missed, I always state that it should not write or rewrite anything.
I simply ask for its opinion.
What I do with its response is pursue new “ideas” that may improve my work — which may include citing a work. But that’s normal.
Please tell me if this approach merits sole authorship, or do I need further prompting to keep my work honest.
